Despite the years of depopulation that Neil talks about, this surprisingly  endearing part of Scotland has thankfully not been forgotten.

The Cabrach Trust was established in 2011 to protect the cultural heritage of the region and safeguard its remote community – one of the remaining few where the Doric language is still alive.

The trust plans to build a £6.5m heritage centre to tell the story of The Cabrach, its people, its culture, its history and, of course, its whisky.

Through a sensitive conversion of the Inverharroch farm steading, the centre will also feature a working historical distillery. Here, traditional distilling methods will be used to recreate a style of whisky not made in The Cabrach since 1820.
